Job description

Sheridan Maine are working with a growing business based in Bournemouth who are looking to recruit a proactive and detail-focused Assistant Accountant. This role offers a great mix of day-to-day finance operations, month-end support, and exposure to analysis, reporting and audit, making it ideal for someone looking to continue developing their accounting skills in a well-rounded role.

You’ll work closely with the Financial Controller and wider finance team, supporting the smooth flow of financial information across the business and contributing to both operational and analytical finance activities.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Carrying out regular bank, client and control account reconciliations
  • Processing supplier invoices, expenses and payments accurately
  • Raising customer invoices and credit notes
  • Maintaining accurate debtor and creditor ledgers
  • Assisting with prepayments, accruals and month‑end journals
  • Preparing and maintaining balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules
  • Processing employee expenses and reconciling corporate card activity
  • Supporting management accounts reporting, including analysis of loan performance
  • Producing business analytics to support decision‑making
  • Assisting with the preparation of management reports and board packs
  • Supporting internal audit processes and control reviews
  • Assisting with external audit, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to queries
  • Supporting year‑end reporting and audit requirements
