A large NHS trust in Norwich is seeking a motivated Pharmacy Aseptic Services Technician to join their busy team. You will perform essential pre-manufacture checks, generate worksheets, and work closely with other pharmacy staff to produce TPN and cytotoxic drugs. The role requires registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council or the Science Council, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The Pharmacy Department provides a fully comprehensive pharmaceutical service across the Trust and to a number of external community units. We are a large and very busy department with over 180 members of staff including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy assistants, admin and clerical staff and apprentices. There are many varied roles and we all work as a team to provide the different functions and services whilst maintaining a high level of patient care.
Functions of the Pharmacy Department include the ordering, receipt and supply of medicines to wards and departments throughout the Trust/external units. This includes dispensing for inpatients, outpatients, community units and supplying ward stocks averaging around 2,500 items a day. Wards and external units are provided a clinical service, with pharmacists and pharmacy technicians an integral part of the multidisciplinary team. The pharmacy provides Aseptic Services such as the preparation and supply of chemotherapy and other sterile products. We have a Quality Assurance team that works to ensure that our products are prepared and supplied to meet the highest quality standards.
To support an expansion of chemotherapy services at the NNUH we have received new funding for our Aseptics department to enable us to increase capacity.
We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Aseptic Services Technician to join our large and busy pharmacy aseptic team. You will either already be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council or the Science Council or be recently qualified/close to qualifying and preparing to register. Please note: if you are close to qualifying as a Pharmacy Technician and are successful in gaining this post with us, you will be required to have completed 2 years’ work experience with your current employer and gain registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council before you can start work with us in this post.
Pharmacy Technicians and Science Manufacturing technicians are vital members of the pharmacy aseptic team who work closely with Pharmacists, Pharmacy Assistants and with other staff within the Pharmacy and Trust.

You should be dedicated, flexible and able to work in a high pressured, busy and demanding working environment. You will need to be enthusiastic, have excellent communication skills and a genuine interest in developing your skills and knowledge. You will be expected to use a number of computer-based systems and, therefore, will have good IT skills.
