Qualifications

Job description
Asbestos Technician / scientist

Are you looking to begin a career in the Environmental Science industry? Are you a graduate with a science-based degree?

You will support the business in delivering services to clients, your principal role will be to manage and deliver the workflow of asbestos samples for preparation, analysis via Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and reporting as well as assisting in the weekly running of the laboratory.

Summary of duties to include but not limited to :

Laboratory focused duties, including preparation and analysis of samples in adherence to strict analytical and quality standards.

Perform analysis using microscopes or SEM.

Data entry of all results collected from analysis carried out.

Formulating and writing asbestos analysis reports.

Responsible for the efficiency and output of the laboratory.

Laboratory housekeeping.

Cleaning and maintaining stock levels.

Requirements

Ideally 2 years of experience working in a UKAS asbestos accredited laboratory.

Scientific / Maths A-levels or HND or Degree in a science discipline.

Ability to manage own workload, work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines.

Pro‑active, with excellent eyesight, calm and patient nature and ability to analytically solve problems.

IT literate with experience of using MS Word and Excel.

Experience/knowledge of working with microscopes or Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) is desirable, as would previous experience within a lab environment.

Good communication skills, both written and verbal, and able to work well with colleagues across all areas of the business.
