Dudley Performing Arts (DPA) is proud to be a leading delivery partner within the Black Country Music Education Hub. We provide high-quality music tuition across schools, academies, colleges and other educational settings throughout the Dudley borough. Much of our work supports the National Plan for Music Education, and includes small group and individual tuition, whole‑class teaching, early‑years music and a wide range of performance ensembles.
We are currently looking for an upper string specialist to join our team. A fixed‑term contract for 18 hours per week is available, with flexibility to work additional hours if appropriate. An additional monthly payment is available for those who hold QTS. All DPA staff are automatically enrolled in the Teacher’s Pension Scheme.
The successful candidate will have a high level of performance skills and an excellent base of knowledge and understanding linked to bowed‑strings tuition. A general knowledge of music is expected at an advanced level, as is the ability to communicate subject knowledge effectively. Performance skills to post grade 8 are required on the specialist instrument. We expect candidates to be practising musicians who are actively involved in music making. We are particularly interested in musicians who have been involved in education projects or have undertaken teaching duties either on a voluntary or professional basis.
While we value experienced teachers, we are equally passionate about developing musicians who may be new to education. If you have strong musical skills and a desire to inspire young people, we’d love to hear from you.
