Overview

We have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Specialist Mental Health Practitioner to work in the Shore Medical Primary Care Network, comprising GP Practices based in east Dorset. The successful candidate will be an experienced Mental Health Practitioner with experience in a Primary Care and/or Community Mental Health Team setting. Applications from candidates requiring current Healthcare worker sponsorship to work in the UK are ineligible.

Main duties and responsibilities

This role will work collaboratively between Primary Care and Secondary Mental Health Services as part of an Integrated Model of Care. The practitioner will focus services around local communities and GP practices to help rebuild and reconnect healthcare teams, providing targeted care according to population needs and supporting the PCN clinical strategy. The practitioner will facilitate onward access to secondary care-based services, third sector services and link with existing support services via the Primary Care Network.

Notes: This post is full-time (37.5 hours); consideration will be given to job sharing or part-time working. Employment requires an Enhanced DBS check (the Trust will cover the cost). Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service and can present a valid DBS certificate may not require a new check. The post location is Shore Medical PCN, Mansfield Road, Parkstone, Poole, BH14 0DJ.

Person specification

Knowledge, Skills and Training (Essential):

  • Registered RMN, OT, Social Worker or Psychologist qualification with registration to degree/diploma level plus a masters level or equivalent experience
  • Membership of the relevant Professional Body
  • Experience of teaching and assessing students and other staff

Desirable:

  • Non-Medical Prescriber (if professionally appropriate)

Job Specific Experience (Essential):

  • Experience at Registered Practitioner Band 6 level or above
  • Evidence of risk management skills and experience
  • Experience of developing specialist programmes of care for individuals or groups, and providing highly specialist advice
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working

Desirable:

  • Evidence of working in primary care and understanding of primary care

Leadership/Supervisory Experience (Essential):

  • Evidence of proactive involvement in supervision and development of multi-disciplinary team members
  • Evidence of delivering education and training in practice
