Overview

The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 12,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army.

Vehicle Technicians across the Army have a keen eye for the finer detail, are enthusiastic about delivering the highest level of standards, all whilst working as part of a team to deliver results as efficiently as possible to meet our customer’s expectations.

The successful applicant will be part of a small but lively team supporting vehicle maintenance, recovery and equipment care of a wide range of vehicles, including armoured tracked and wheeled vehicles. Applicants who do not meet the required standard may be offered at a lower level position (Skill Zone 3). This position is advertised at 37 hours per week with the exciting opportunity to achieve that with a flexible approach.

As a Civil Service Vehicle Technician, you will service and repair all systems within the vehicle including engine and exhaust systems, air brakes, air conditioning and electronics. Work will range from replacing parts, to solving complex faults using diagnostic methods and equipment. With evermore complex technologies, the tasks are constantly changing. As an experienced Vehicle Technician in servicing and maintaining light or heavy vehicles you will continue to develop your trade knowledge on tracked vehicles and specialist artillery specific equipment.
