Job description

The Assistant Corps Secretary provides in depth knowledge and understanding of the domestic affairs of the Corps on a wide range of matters that depend for success on precedence, continuity and corporate memory.

Responsibilities
  • Provide advice, knowledge and experience on the heritage, military traditions and customs of the Royal Corps of Signals including all regular and reserve units and sub-units.
  • Co-ordinate Royal Signals welfare and benevolent work for serving and retired personnel and their families and to approve welfare grants.
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert of HQ focal point for Operational/In Service/Corps Deaths/Memorial Services.
  • To provide advice and assistance to branches and affiliations of the Royal Signals Association.
  • Assistant to the General Secretary to the Royal Signals Association.
  • Plan and run the Royal Signals Association Annual Reunion/Corps Weekend.
  • Facilitate Corps Music bookings throughout the year and bid for all ‘Golden Thread’ events annually.
  • Acting as Vice President for Corps guest nights, Corps 3Rs Dinner and the Colonel Commandants dinner.
  • Carry out Secretariat duties for the Corps Officer Grants Committee, Corps Executive Heritage Committee and in the absence of the Corps Secretary, the Royal Signals Trustee Limited Board and the Corps Executive Committee.
  • Act as the Headquarters focus for serving and former Colonels Commandant.
  • Line manager for the Corps Grants Officer, Royal Signals Association Operations Officer, Royal Signals Charity Administrative Assistant and Corps Events Clerk.
  • Deputise for the Corps Secretary as required.
  • Plan, organise and execute an annual service of remembrance at the National Memorial Arboretum with Bereaved Families in attendance.
