Architectural Principal Designer Job in East Grinstead, West Sussex

I have recently met with our client, an established and successful architectural practice, which now has an Architectural Principal Designer position available. They are seeking Architects with experience in high-risk buildings who are interested in gaining registration as a Principal Designer.

Our client is a multi-sector architectural practice with projects in residential, healthcare, hospitality, commercial, and façade sectors. Currently, they are involved in remediating cladding in multi-level buildings in London and various retrofit projects across the UK. Due to increased demand, they are looking to hire an Architectural Principal Designer to join their team.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Advise on health & safety matters
  • Lead architectural projects and teams as Principal Designer
  • Review design risk assessments and support the Building Safety Act 2022 compliance
  • Support preconstruction health & safety planning
  • Possess detailed knowledge of cladding typologies; assist with preconstruction information
  • Coordinate health & safety during preconstruction and work towards RIBA Principal Designer registration
  • Issue safety documentation upon project completion
  • Collaborate with design teams to develop guidance and management tools
  • Engage with clients and enforce authorities
  • Manage information using a CDE interface and curate the Golden Thread

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience with high-risk buildings in the UK; ARB registered Architect
  • Understanding and application of the Building Safety Act 2022
  • Knowledge of cladding typologies; Revit skills are highly advantageous
  • Willingness to undergo additional training and development
