Pay: £24,307 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week

Accountable to: Digital Systems Lead

We are seeking a dedicated individual to fulfil the role of Apprentice ICT Support Technician for our Business Development Digital Team. The post-holder will work as a valued member of the Business Development Digital Team based at Newfield House, Blackpool. They will work alongside other experienced team members as part of a wider corporate support business unit. Much of your time will be spent on site at Newfield House in Blackpool, but you should also be prepared to travel to our various operational sites across Lancashire and South Yorkshire. There is also the ability to work from home when suitable for the organisation. Working hours will largely be typical office hours, however there may be occasions where you would need to work outside of those times to support operational teams or to minimise operational disruption.

Job responsibilities

Main duties of the job:

  • Support business units with ICT hardware and deploy new services and upgrade existing hardware.
  • Problem solve hardware issues, identify root causes, devise solutions or liaise with ICT partners for additional support.
  • Maintain links with business unit leads to support use of organisational asset registers for hardware and software licences.
  • Track, order and update relevant ICT stock assets to support swift resolution of issues, and coordinate with ICT colleagues on replacements or end‑of‑life equipment.
  • Map new business requirements or hardware and licence requirements to support design and implementation of ICT solutions when applicable.
  • Speedily resolve in‑scope issues or raise, monitor and chase out‑of‑scope issues with ICT partners or suppliers, maintaining focus on health and safety and proper wire management.
  • Work independently to coordinate diary, triage and prioritise issues as they arise while maintaining a support and maintenance schedule.
  • Build operational knowledge across the organisation to support meaningful conversations about future digital business decisions.
  • Work closely with the Quality & Risk team to maintain compliance with information governance policies such as Privacy by Design, identify and report ICT incidents and work with Q & R to raise matters to risk registers.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and share good IT practice across departments and units.
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn and expand knowledge across all aspects of the role.
  • Undertake the Digital Applications Technician apprenticeship, completing work toward the apprenticeship standard within the working week and attending learning sessions during employment.

Person Specification
Experience – Essential
  • Working within a busy office environment.
  • Using Microsoft Office IT systems.
  • Effective partnership/team working.
  • Handling and managing IT hardware and software issues.
Experience – Desirable
  • Scoping, configuring and deploying new software solutions.
  • Setting up PC hardware for varied user needs.
  • Understanding PC components and building PC hardware.
Personal Qualities – Essential
  • Good communication skills to convey complex information and manage administrative matters.
  • Professional integrity, civility and respect within the workplace.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and organise workload with minimal supervision, meeting tight and shifting timescales.
