Job description
Overview

In an apprentice role you will work on exciting, ground‑breaking projects from day one, with support to grow in your chosen discipline as well as training to develop the core skills needed to succeed in a professional organisation. This is an exciting new opportunity for an Apprentice Project Controller to join our expanding Project Controls Team, with vacancies in various locations. At Tetra Tech, you will work with high‑performing teams who are passionate about using their expertise to find solutions to complex problems in water, environment, infrastructure, defence, energy, and international development. Joining the existing Project and Cost Management business unit, you will support Senior Project Controls Professionals in managing projects, working closely with high profile clients, stakeholders, and all UK Tetra Tech disciplines to develop and deliver successful projects to our clients. This position offers an exciting opportunity where you can gain invaluable 'hands' on experience and gain a qualification. This position will include day release to complete a fully funded Level 6 (Degree level) Apprenticeship in Project Controls.

Role Responsibilities
  • Assisting in delivering projects to the value of £50m across both Public and Private sectors
  • Controlling project budgets and costs
  • Managing project risk and supporting mitigation strategies
  • Managing project schedules, making sure that project team adheres to timelines
  • Performance reporting, including project health metrics, status reports, and analysis
  • Supporting data analytics efforts, including the collection, analysis, and interpretation of project performance data
  • Assisting in developing and maintaining project dashboards for real‑time project insights and KPI tracking
  • Making sure internal governance is adhered to, following standardised project management methodologies (PMO alignment)
  • Assisting in scope management and delivery of construction projects
  • Supporting the alignment of project objectives with strategic portfolio goals
  • Collaborating with cross‑functional teams, stakeholders, and clients, supporting project success and alignment with business objectives, We take pride in delivering projects effectively for clients. This often requires colleagues to be together- in offices or on site - to ensure the best outcomes. However, when possible, we also advocate for flexibility around how, when, and where you work.
Working Environment

Meeting up with colleague and clients face to face in office environments or on site is important for collaboration, face‑to‑face meetings, appraisals and development.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 GCSE's grade 9-4 (A-C) or equivalent including English Language and Maths
  • 3 A Levels Grade A-C or equivalent
  • A keen interest in developing your Project Management skills
  • MS Office skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-Motivated
  • Suitability for security clearance
  • Desirable – Full, clean UK driving licence and ideally access to a vehicle
