A public healthcare organization in Sheffield is offering an apprenticeship to become a Health Care Assistant. This role provides comprehensive training to support patients, perform clinical duties, and uphold patient confidentiality. Candidates need to have GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade 4 or above). Driving with access to a car is essential. Successful candidates can progress to an equivalent band 3 role with a Level 3 Diploma upon completion.
The post is for 30 hours per week on a flexible basis. Our apprenticeship scheme is run inpartnership with a leading provider, Barnsley College, to ensure you are fully supportedthrough a high-quality training programme.You are expected to complete the carecertificates during the programme. You will be expected to fulfilthe role and responsibilities by the end of thetraining period, and a development plan will beput in place by your line manager confirmingthe competencies they expect you to developduring that time. On successful completion ofthe apprenticeship, you will progress to anequivalent band 3 as a Health care assistant with a qualification of Level 3 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare Support.
An enhanced DBS check will be performed by the practice ahead of the post holders start date.
Working under the nurse team, thepost holder will deliver routineclinical and non-clinical dutiesincluding patient treatment andcare. The level 3 HCA will be taughthow to provide care followingpolicy, procedures and protocols,as well as excising autonomy onnon-complex decisions. HCAs mayalso provide supervision to moresenior staff member.Tasks may include clinical activitieslike taking bloods, labelling and transporting patientsamples, restocking clinicalequipment, chaperoning andsupporting our nursing team withcomplex patient activities. Your duties will also be undertaken in the community during home visits to patients to provide care in such cases that they are housebound. Driving with access to own car is essential.
We are a well respected team of 6 GP partners, 4 salaried GPs, 2 ANPs, 3 practice Nurses, 4 HCAs, and over 20 Admin staff. GMS Practice in Southwest Sheffield close to the Peak district National Park. We have a diverse population of over 13,500 patients over 2 locations.
