A local educational authority is offering an exciting apprenticeship opportunity as an EYFS Teaching Assistant Level 3 at Glazebury Primary Academy. You will support the staff in their responsibilities to care for children, ensure their safety, and contribute to their learning and development. Candidates must have a foundational knowledge in childcare, especially in safeguarding practices. This apprenticeship offers the potential for full-time employment upon successful completion. The hourly rate starts at £7.55, increasing after 12 months.

Apprentice EYFS Teaching Assistant Level 3 - Glazebury Primary Academy (LDST)
The role

EYFS Teaching Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship

Duration: 18 to 21 Months to obtain qualification

Hours per week: 36 hours over 5 days (Monday to Friday)

Working weeks: Term Time only 38 weeks per year

Working times to be agreed (variations between 7:30am and 5:15pm)

About the apprenticeship
  • Glazebury Primary School is looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant (EYFS Nursery Assistant Apprentice) to complete the following tasks:
  • To support staff in the setting, care for the children in line with the settings policies and procedures and alongside the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum
  • To follow all safeguarding practices in line with settings policy and practice
  • The role will include supporting staff to ensure the health and safety of the children at all times
  • Providing stimulating activities to encourage children’s development and learning
  • To learn and develop skills and practices associated and expected of a teaching assistant within a school setting with particular focus on EYFS
  • Supported by Total People to gain relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications to gain an Early years Educator apprenticeship that aligns with Department for Education for Full and relevant at Level 3.
  • (To count within the ratios at level 3, staff holding an Early Years Educator qualification must also have achieved a suitable level 2 qualification in English.)
Entry Requirements

Applicants must have a good knowledge of child development, safeguarding, health & safety and the EYFS framework required.

Initial assessment in English and Maths to show working at Level 1 (minimum).

In secure employment actively working in a key person role.

IT access, including access to the internet and a device to use to access online learning courses and produce assignments via an electronic portfolio (OneFile). Access will be required in the workplace and in the learner’s own time.

Future Prospects

To be employed as a Level 3 (Level 2) Practitioner and potential of fulltime employment for the right candidate.

Qualifications required
  • A level 1 Qualification in childcare is desirable. GCSE math and English desirable but training can be given to support these if required.
  • A level 2 Qualification in childcare is desirable. GCSE math and English desirable but training can be given to support these if required.
