Job description
Overview

At Oxford Instruments, we enable the world’s leading industrial companies and scientific research communities to image, analyse and manipulate materials down to the atomic and molecular level. Our customers use our NanoScience ultra-low temperature and high magnetic field environments to go beyond what was once thought possible, whether that’s creating Nobel Prize winning materials or developing quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.

Why not let us look after the development of your career, whilst you look after the development of our cutting-edge products?

We manufacture a huge variety of cryogenic / measurement systems and sub-assemblies, from multi-million-pound custom builds to much smaller instruments and we would like you to contribute towards the continued development of these products, with your focus being on application and measurement.

Responsibilities
  • Support the development of products and measurement techniques that meet customer requirements.
  • Complete concept designs, design development and validation for cryogenic / measurement systems and sub-assemblies.
  • Provide technical support for the manufacture of cryogenic / measurement systems and sub-assemblies.
  • As part of validation, provide detailed test documentation (in conjunction with other departments), define test procedures, interpret data and write reports.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards.
About You
  • Understand customer requirements and the challenges of their measurements.
  • Beneficial: prior knowledge of cryogenic systems and an appreciation of magnetic fields.
  • Ideal candidate: PhD in physical sciences, or a degree in a relevant subject with extensive experience of experiment design and automation of measurements at low temperatures.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills.
Benefits
  • Competitive starting salary with flexible working hours and a half-day on Fridays.
  • 25 days annual leave, private healthcare, a share incentive plan, and a defined contribution Group Personal Pension Plan.
  • Flexible benefits package that you can tailor to your own requirements.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or disability.
