Job description
Overview

Better Decisions Begin with You. At Aon, we shape decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world. We are an inclusive, diverse team focused on helping colleagues and clients succeed.

Wealth Solutions: Retirement. As leaders in actuarial consulting, our graduate programme supports you to build a career as an actuary while earning and learning.

Your role

Your role as an Actuarial Graduate in Wealth Solutions: Retirement involves working on client teams providing advice and support to trustees or the sponsoring company. The aim is to progress you toward becoming a trusted client advisor, developing technical and consulting skills, communication, project management and networking. Throughout your career, you’ll enhance your commercial awareness and professionalism to grow as an actuarial consultant.

What your day could look like
  • Actuarial and analytical tasks, including regular assessments of the financial position of pension schemes; identification and implementation of risk-reduction strategies for trustees and companies (longevity, investment and inflation risks); calculations for the company’s financial accounts and for individual pension scheme members’ benefits; and estimation of Pension Protection Fund levies.
  • Client-focused tasks, including day-to-day management of the pension scheme and internal projects; building and managing relationships with clients and stakeholders; attending and presenting at client meetings.
  • Opportunities to work on projects across specialist teams such as Risk Settlement; Member Options; and Analysis of mortality and demographic trends in Aon’s Demographic HorizonsTM team.
Development and progression

As an Aon Graduate, you will be enrolled on our Launch Programme, built around three elements: business learning on the job; centralised learning through induction, webinars, and workshops; and professional qualifications, with paid study leave and materials. You’ll work towards becoming a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

Career progression beyond the Graduate programme includes continued training and support, regular performance feedback, and potential promotions from Graduate Analyst to Associate Consultant, then Consultant and beyond. You may specialise in advising trustee clients or corporate pension scheme sponsors, with opportunities to join specialist teams.

Locations and schedule

Locations: Across the UK, including Birmingham, Bristol, Epsom, Farnborough, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester, and St Albans. If you wish to be considered for a role based in London, please apply to the London-only programme.

As a new graduate, you will spend the first 6 months in an office to support learning and progression. Thereafter, you may work more flexibly, spending at least 3 to 4 days in the office or with clients.

What we offer and what we look for

We provide a comprehensive benefits package and a diverse, inclusive environment that supports wellbeing and work/life balance. All colleagues have access to two Global Wellbeing Days each year. We are committed to equal employment opportunities and reasonable accommodations for applicants with disabilities. If you require accommodations, contact graduates@aon.co.uk.

  • Entry requirements: a 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in maths, actuarial science or other highly numerical field; A-grade or above in Maths A-level (or Scottish higher/international equivalent); practical skills in Python, SQL, VBA, or cloud platforms.
  • What we’re looking for: motivation to pursue an actuarial career, passion and curiosity, commercial awareness, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently and in a team.
