Job summary

A prominent conservation organization in Scotland is seeking an experienced conservation leader to develop and implement strategies for biodiversity and sustainability. The ideal candidate will have a background in biology or conservation, strong leadership skills, and bilingual proficiency in English and Chinese. This role involves project management and stakeholder engagement aimed at promoting conservation within the community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree holder or equivalent in biology, conservation, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in leading and managing conservation programs.
  • Solid experience in animal care and training is advantageous.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.

Job description
Responsibilities

The incumbent will be mainly responsible for the development and implementation of the Park’s conservation actions; and to champion biodiversity and sustainability by working with both internal and external stakeholders in conservation to lead, develop and manage various biodiversity conservation initiatives of the Park, to build our community’s capacity to protect biodiversity and promote sustainability. Major job duties include the development of conservation strategic plan, proposal writing, project implementation and evaluation. The incumbent may also support staff training and capacity building in disciplines such as animal care, animal training and animal welfare.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree holder or equivalent professional qualifications in biology, conservation or related discipline (Master-level degree or above preferred);
  • With at least 3 years or above experience in leading, developing, and managing conservation programmes, familiar with local/regional animal conservation is preferred; (e.g. Species Work plan / One Plan Approach, wildlife rescue, care in zoological institutions and potential development on species conservation breeding and reintroduction programs etc)
  • At least 3 years of solid experience in contemporary animal care, animal training and corresponding staff training would be an advantage;
  • Excellent leadership, communication and inter-personal skills;
  • Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese;
  • Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, video editing etc
