Job description
Role Overview

We are pleased to offer a vacancy opportunity to join our existing dedicated Ancillary-AVP Operative team based at Batemoor Ambulance Station. The primary role is to deep clean front‑line ambulance vehicles at various locations in line with the Ambulance Vehicle Preparation (AVP) requirements and maintain effective housekeeping of garage and associated clinical areas. Unsociable out‑of‑hours payment is provided for this role. Extra 41% is paid for hours between 20:00 and 06:00 and Sundays 83% for all hours worked within these times. The role offers competitive unsocial rates on top of the basic salary indicated, in accordance with NHS terms and conditions. Please contact us for further information. Our training package includes Level 2 Apprenticeship and access to Level 2 NCFE. This role may require you to travel throughout Yorkshire as and when required to other ambulance stations during your shift (transport provided).

Responsibilities

Duties to include:

  • Ambulance Vehicle Preparation Operatives Process: Ambulance Service vehicles in a prescribed and controlled way that ensures each ambulance is fully equipped and prepared to attend and treat a patient. The role is a key operational support function, which ensures patient safety whilst supporting Operations in meeting its targets.
  • Main duties include detailed cleaning and infection prevention and control activities, checking and inspecting medical and lifting & handling equipment, restocking all consumables, and completing vehicle checks.
  • Other duties include the preparation of consumables, stock control, re‑fuelling and moving vehicles across various locations, recording all daily activities and the repatriation of equipment from Hospital Trusts.
  • Cross‑site location working may be required within your daily/weekly activities for which transport will be provided during your working times.

No experience is required as full training will be given. An initial four‑week training package forms part of your learning and development. The working days and times are dependent upon current provision required to meet operational / patient demand and can include bank holidays, weekends and nights, preparing our frontline operational vehicles and maintaining our provision on a 24‑hour basis. A significant percentage of our Ambulance Vehicle Preparation is completed overnight; however, night and weekend working does attract unsocial payments.

Holiday entitlement is between 27 days and 33 days (pro‑rata) depending on length of NHS service plus bank holidays on a pro‑rata basis.

Qualifications

Successful candidates must be flexible, reliable, conscientious with a good eye for detail and be able to work individually and as part of a small team. You must be able to demonstrate the YAS values and behaviours. A driving licence with C1 Category is essential – you will be required to confirm within your application that you hold a full C1 Category licence which is valid within the UK.
