Job description
Purpose of Job

The Analyst contributes to all activities in the area of green strategic communication and engagement. The role involves taking responsibility for tasks assigned by the operation leader or more senior project team members, including developing briefing notes for senior management, contributing to corporate reports, managing communication tools, and, under the guidance of the operational leader, contributing to communications around flagship programs and initiatives in the green space.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the operation leader:

  • Briefing notes for senior management: Coordinating the development of briefing notes for the President and Vice Presidents, including liaising with colleagues in CSD to obtain input, drafting briefing notes, and coordinating CSD deliverables with colleges in the President's Office, Corporate Strategy, the Communication Department, and banking teams.
  • Corporate reports and other communication products: Coordinating CSD input for corporate reports, such as the Impact Report and the Annual Report, identifying relevant projects/programs and a narrative, drafting input, and coordinating with other departments, including the Impact Team and the Communication Department. Also acts as the CSD focal point for the external website and the intranet, ensuring platforms are up to date with latest information.
  • Managing communication tools: Maintaining and enhancing the depository of briefing notes and CSD presentations, and setting up a database of relevant stakeholders in different sectors for targeted external communication, event invitations, and speaker invitations.
  • Training: Supporting the development of internal training courses and external capacity-building initiatives.
  • Supporting flagship engagement activities in the green space: Supporting engagement and communication initiatives for the Bank's green strategy, including developing new communication approaches, branding flagship programmes, and collaborating with the Communication Department on campaigns.
  • Internal and external events: Assisting with concept creation and organisation of events, including high-level annual conferences (e.g., Green Cities Conference and Pathways to Paris conference for financial institutions) and EBRD Annual Meeting side events and international events (e.g., COP). Includes developing event concepts and scripts, briefing speakers, and conducting desk research on trends in event management and formats for in-person and virtual events, summarised in guidance notes.

The responsibilities of the Analyst are designed to progressively undertake more complex tasks and expand responsibility with experience and expertise.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor degree (climate science, political and social sciences, economics, and environmental studies, ideally with a background in climate communication).
  • Exceptional writing skills with the ability to translate complex technical content into clear, precise messages for different audiences.
  • Understanding of the climate space, including relevant stakeholders and processes in climate negotiations, the landscape of climate finance, climate technologies, and business practices.
Experience & Knowledge
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships, reflecting the importance of compelling communication to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks under time pressure and deliver on time.
  • Result-oriented, self-motivated, and able to plan and organise work unsupervised in a logical and efficient manner.
