Main Purpose of the Job
- Preparing emergency ambulances for operational duty and includes cleaning vehicles, checking basic serviceability and equipment, and restocking the medical consumables.
- At all times, the post holder must ensure safety and reduction in harm to patients, self, colleagues, and others by assessing risks and adopting safe working practices.
- Have a flexible approach and have the ability to react on the day operational demands.

Base and Benefits
- Base - Preston (may be required to travel to other UKEMS bases on occasion)
- Pay - £12.21 per hour
- Company pension scheme
- Holidays - 28 days per year (pro rata)

Main Duties and Responsibilities of the role
- Valid UK driving licence, held for a minimum of 2 years.
- Maintain a high standard of vehicle and equipment serviceability, cleanliness and permanent readiness. Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly in accordance with service instructions.
- Drive allocated vehicle as road traffic law dictates, in a manner appropriate to the conditions, and with due consideration for the safety of vehicle occupants and other road users, in non-emergency conditions.
- Ensure security of and apply appropriate care and maintenance (including restocking as appropriate) to all personal and UKEMS Medical equipment.
- Be of smart and professional appearance, act in accordance with the business’s code of conduct and be helpful, polite, and courteous in manner at all times.
- Report vehicle accidents, incidents and near misses in a timely and accurate manner, in accordance with the business’s risk management procedures.
- Maintain a flexible attitude to work patterns, which may include working weekends and Bank Holidays.

Personal Attributes
- Self disciplined and able to work on own initiative or as part of a team
- High standard of personal hygiene; clean, tidy and professional appearance
- Flexibility to work rota hours, additional hours, nights, bank holidays and weekends as required
- Must be able to pass medical assessment as determined by the business’s Occupational Health Department
- Applicants must have satisfactory clearance of a Criminal Records Bureau check
- Full driving licence with no more than 3 penalty points for new entrants or a maximum of 6 for existing employees
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of mental health transport
- Knowledge of Health & Safety Issues
- Minimum of 12 months in a direct healthcare role supported by on the job theoretical and practical training.
