Job summary

A leading aerospace company in the Isle of Wight is looking for experienced Aircraft Fitters to join their production team. The role involves fitting and assembling aircraft structures, ensuring quality and safety. Applicants should have proven experience in aerospace manufacturing and a strong understanding of aircraft assembly processes. This is a contract position for 6 months, with a rate of £34 per hour and daily travel provided from the ferry to the site.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an Aircraft Fitter or similar role within aerospace manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft assembly processes and industry quality standards.
  • Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform fitting and assembly tasks on aircraft structures and systems.
  • Work from engineering drawings, specifications, and detailed work instructions.
  • Safely and efficiently use a range of hand and power tools.
  • Complete all work to strict quality standards and within allocated timescales.
  • Liaise with production engineering and quality teams to resolve build issues.

Aircraft Fitter - Isle of Wight (Bembridge)

Contract: 6 months
Rate: 34 per hour
IR35 Status: Outside IR35 until March; Inside IR35 from April 2026
Start Date: Early January
Travel: Daily travel from ferry to site provided
Accommodation: Not provided

Location: Bembridge, Isle of Wight
Easily commutable via Portsmouth Hovercraft to Ryde or Southampton Red Funnel to Cowes

About the Role

We are seeking experienced Aircraft Fitters to join a growing production facility on the Isle of Wight, contributing to the build of the Islander aircraft. This is a hands‑on role requiring strong technical skills, precision, and a commitment to maintaining the highest aerospace safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform fitting and assembly tasks on aircraft structures and systems
  • Work from engineering drawings, specifications, and detailed work instructions
