Overview
A leading Construction and Facilities Management contractor is seeking an experienced and fully qualified Mobile Air Conditioning Engineer to join their team on a full-time permanent basis. This is a mobile role working across a range of commercial sites across Edinburgh, delivering high-quality servicing, repairs, and installations of HVAC as part of planned and reactive maintenance works. This is a permanent position, and Coleman James are acting as an Employment Agency.
Responsibilities
- Undertake service, maintenance, and repair of:
- Split air conditioning systems
- VRV/VRF systems
- Air Handling Units (AHUs) & Heat pumps
- Refrigeration equipment including chilled cabinets, multidecks, and ice machines
- Interpret installation designs and use manufacturer-specific troubleshooting procedures
- Complete inspection reports, maintenance logs, and remedial work records accurately and on time
- Adhere to all Permit to Work procedures, Health & Safety protocols, and safe systems of work
- Work both independently and as part of a team
- Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams, using PDA or handheld device for job updates
- Participate in the emergency on-call rota
Requirements
- Full current UK driving licence
- F-Gas & ODS Regulations (Category 1 - 2079)
- Time-served apprenticeship in Air Conditioning/Refrigeration
- City & Guilds Level 3 / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant field (HVAC, Refrigeration, Mechanical)
- Proven experience in Maintenance or Facilities Management environment
- Hands-on experience with AC systems and refrigeration equipment
- Understanding of Health & Safety legislation
- Familiarity with Permit to Work systems and safe working practice
- Comfortable with manual work, heights, and confined spaces
- Able to use handheld devices for reporting
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated and solution-focused mindset
