Job description

MCS Group is delighted to be working with a fast-scaling, product-led technology company as they continue to grow their Northern Ireland hub. They're now seeking an AI Engineer to help shape how Artificial Intelligence is designed, integrated, and delivered across their cutting-edge platform.

This is a company with global reach (around 300 employees worldwide) and a thriving NI team that launched last year. Reporting into the Principal Data Scientist, the AI Engineer will have the chance to influence how AI is embedded into real-world products that make a genuine impact.

Unlike roles that focus solely on building and training models, this position offers variety: you'll use your technical foundation while also working closely with customers, engineering teams, and external AI providers. It's a brilliant opportunity for someone who wants to step into a role that mixes deep tech with AI solution design and delivery.

What you'll be doing
  • Integrating AI: Collaborate with third-party AI partners to bring advanced features into the product.

  • Working cross-functionally: Partner with product managers, software engineers, and hardware teams to define requirements and shape solutions.

  • Engaging customers: Share expertise, explain functionality, and support customers with guidance and education.

  • Improving performance: Investigate issues, gather feedback from real-world usage, and refine models for better outcomes.

  • Turning plans into delivery: Translate business and product requirements into clear technical solutions.

  • Optimising in production: Monitor AI features post-deployment, ensuring they evolve and improve over time.

What we're looking for
  • Commercial experience in AI/ML applications, computer vision, or embedded systems.

  • Hands-on work with AI/ML vendors or APIs/models.

  • Ideally, knowledge of video analytics, computer vision or edge AI.

  • Strong grasp of the AI lifecycle, from data handling through to deployment.

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, comfortable in customer-facing settings.

  • Proficiency with Python and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or OpenCV.

  • A self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Salary

Up to £70,000 plus a strong benefits package which includes bonus and enhanced pension.
