Overview

Role: Agrochemical Technical Manager

Location: Ellesmere Port - onsite (with some flexibility) and 20% travel (domestic and international)

Salary & Benefits: Highly competitive salary (DOE), Pension Up to 10% EE/15% ER, annual bonus, Death in service x 6, private medical insurance, 25 days annual leave which increases with length of service up to 28, and Sharesave scheme.

Russell Taylor Group are working with a global chemicals organisation who are looking to expand their Agrochemical division. This is a brand-new role to the business and you will be a key member of their Agrochemicals department where you will lead the development, testing, and application of specialty chemical solutions for crop protection and agricultural formulations.

This is an onsite role in Ellesmere Port, with up to 20% travel to customer sites, manufacturing facilities, and industry events both in the UK and internationally.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership for the development and support of agrochemical formulations.
  • Liaise with customers and key accounts in the EMEA region to understand technical requirements and offer tailored product solutions. Often visiting the customers and distributors to support the growth of this region.
  • Manage lab-scale up formulation work, including testing, optimization, and validation of new products.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D, sales, regulatory, and manufacturing teams to bring new products to market.
  • Support regulatory submissions and compliance activities with relevant global standards and local regulations.
  • Deliver technical presentations and training to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor products, and emerging technologies to inform innovation and strategic direction.
  • Document and communicate technical findings through reports, white papers, and internal knowledge sharing.
The Person
  • Educated to ideally PhD level in Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Agronomy, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
  • Proven experience in the agrochemical industry, ideally in crop formulation, technical support, or product development.
  • Strong understanding of agrochemical application science.
  • Management experience would be desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on laboratory environment and with cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.
