Overview

Agricultural Development Underwriter

We are seeking an experienced Agricultural Development Underwriter to join the Underwriting team. This role will be based out of our Leeds office; however, location is flexible due to the need to travel across various locations to provide on-site underwriting to our brokers.

As an Agricultural Development Underwriter, you’ll engage in a diverse range of underwriting activities and broker development, focusing on Farm Combined and Farm Motor products. You’ll help execute the company strategy, contribute to financial goals, and deliver exceptional customer service. You will manage key agricultural broker accounts to ensure high-quality service and support.

Responsibilities
  • Shape Our Strategy: Contribute to and implement underwriting strategy across all products, aligning with our risk appetite.
  • Drive Financial Success: Directly impact financial KPIs by balancing revenue growth with underwriting profitability.
  • Deliver Excellence: Uphold service standards on all authorized products and integrate Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) into our culture.
  • Spot Trends: Analyse distribution trends and broker behaviours to inform strategy.
  • Build Relationships: Cultivate strong, in-person relationships with brokers; engage directly to foster trust and collaboration.
  • Enhance Quality: Manage quality assurance and peer reviews to identify underwriting and product improvement opportunities.
  • Stay Informed: Keep abreast of market trends and developments in industry segments; build relationships with capacity partners.
  • Grow Your Skills: Lead personal technical and skill development while collaborating with the sales team to implement distribution strategy.
What you need to have
  • A solid understanding of the commercial insurance market.
  • Proven experience in Agricultural Underwriting with a history of holding underwriting authority.
  • Knowledge of in-scope products and trade range.
  • A track record of successful teamwork and delivering results.
