Are you ready to work with a team of talented engineers and shape the future of Aviation? Aviation is a key focus sector at AECOM within our global transportation engineering consultancy. We are the number one aviation engineering consultancy by revenue globally and see significant growth potential as the sector recovers. Our clients are reinvesting in assets to meet future capacity needs, with Aviation Infrastructure expected to grow as a business.

Traditionally our UK Aviation business has been UK-centric, supporting airfield and civil infrastructure engineering services. Our growth strategy seeks to diversify services and regions. Aviation Infrastructure is core to our business and is expected to provide opportunities and revenue.

We are currently looking for an AGL Associate Director / Technical Director to grow the project pipeline, lead and expand the team. You will develop winning proposals, provide technical oversight and guidance on design and project management for a range of aviation electrical projects across the UK and internationally, focusing on modern, future-focused aviation systems and services with a sustainable approach and carbon footprint reduction for airport clients.

Open to locations across the UK.

Current & Upcoming Projects:

  • A wide range of airfield upgrades and rehabilitation projects in civil and military markets.
  • Recent major bid successes on overseas airports.
  • Continued work with our established client base in the UK, Ireland and internationally.
  • A regular programme of airfield asset inspections, both at home and overseas.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver: Work within the existing AGL team within the Aviation civil infrastructure team to oversee AGL projects on civil and military airfields in the UK, Ireland and overseas; grow the project pipeline and expand the team.
  • Oversee: Involvement in delivery of AGL projects through technical guidance, project oversight, design elements, client stakeholder engagement and technical assurance.
  • Provide Expertise: Offer technical knowledge and support to the design team and clients on all aspects of multi-disciplinary projects from concept through design and construction to handover to operations.
  • Ensure Quality: Review and approve design outputs, applying aviation standards such as ICAO, EASA, CAA, FAA and Military Regulatory Articles.
  • Collaborate: Work with multi-disciplinary engineers and the wider AECOM structure to deliver integrated design solutions and build relationships with clients as trusted advisors.

What we’re looking for:

  • Technical Experience: Demonstrable experience in delivery of AGL and electrical design within an airport environment, airfield operations, airport engineering and the airport-specific construction sector at a senior professional level.
  • Project Management and Delivery: Experience leading and working within AGL teams in multi-disciplinary projects, delivering to technical and quality standards, managing resources, programmes and budgets.
  • Detailed working knowledge of the aviation AGL marketplace, with a network of contacts including AGL lighting suppliers, control systems specialists, High Mast Lighting and electrical substations.
  • Strong practical understanding of airports and the aviation industry, including best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Substantial diverse experience in the AGL sector as a consultant, delivering projects and engaging with clients in the UK and Europe.
