Job description
Overview

Are you a university graduate with the aspiration, enthusiasm, and talent to help us pioneer sustainable aerospace for a safe and united world? Airbus seeks bright minds from around the globe to fill critical roles that will shape our future. When you begin your career with us, we offer a development journey through the Airbus Global Graduate programme.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all program; it’s a personalized, two-year experience designed to cultivate your professional skills, enhance your business acumen, and hone your technical abilities. The programme places a strong emphasis on developing your leadership potential from day one. You’ll gain a unique perspective on Airbus while contributing directly in a specific, impactful position.

Beyond daily responsibilities and a comprehensive training schedule, you’ll join your global graduate community annually for a development week to connect with peers, learn from leaders, and gain insights from the best in the industry. Throughout the programme you will be developed into an established and valuable team member from day 1. You’ll sharpen your skills in an area strategically important to Airbus, gaining a deep understanding of our business and its opportunities, challenges, and needs.

You’ll have the opportunity to do your best work in an industry that is reshaping how we live in our world.

Role and team

You will join the team dedicated to Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Methods and Processes within the Airframe Engineering organisation, developing inspection and sensing methods for aircraft structures. Inspection is a key enabler of the aircraft industry, ensuring quality and safety, and contributing to the product development plan lead time and manufacturing cost. We aim to develop you into thinking about inspection as part of tests and manufacturing processes, with built-in quality features.

You will work in a transnational team of highly skilled professionals in the different fields of physics used for inspection (optics, acoustics, electromagnetics, radiography), both with hardware and software competences, including state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence. If you’re ready to embark on this journey, apply below.

Your development and responsibilities

What you will be doing

  • Leading the development of NDT/inspection solutions: sensing technology and associated processing algorithms
  • Designing and running tests to develop, validate and qualify the inspection solutions in their application environment (structures tests and manufacturing)
  • Interacting with colleagues from aircraft programmes to understand needs and translate into technical workplans
  • Working at the intersection of structures tests, NDT and manufacturing to provide fit-for-purpose inspection solutions for future aircraft programmes

Your development pathway will include two rotational placements to support your growth into the role, during which you will:

  • Learn how structures tests are designed, implemented and how inspections integrate
  • Learn how inspections are executed and integrated in the production system

Throughout the two-year development programme you will develop into the position of Airframe Inspection & Sensing Methods Leader.

What we are looking for

To be a successful applicant to the Airbus Global Graduate Programme, you will need to demonstrate you have:

  • A MSc degree in Physics, Mechanics, Aerospace or Applied Mathematics
  • Ability to prototype scientific software solutions with Python or Matlab
  • Competence in data processing / data science
  • Competence in simulation of physics
  • Strong verbal and written communication in English
  • A desire to work in a collaborative team environment focused on driving future innovation
  • The ability to be self-aware and a wish to be in the driving seat of your development

Please note that you should submit only one application to the Airbus Global Graduate Programme and select the opportunity that best represents you and your experience in relation to the role.
