Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a part‑time Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our Primary Care Nurse Team at HMP Dovegate, a Category B Prison located in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire. The role involves running outpatient clinics within the healthcare department and working closely with the MDT team in primary care and long‑term condition management. HMP Dovegate is a private prison with a capacity of 1,060 males.

Hours
  • Monday – Friday
  • 30 hours per week over 4 days
  • 8 am – 4 pm
Salary

You will receive an annual salary between £59,677 and £66,792 FTE per annum, depending on experience. Salary will be pro‑rota.

Main duties of the job
  • Use expert clinical skills and demonstrate judgement in assessing and managing a wide range of complex patient problems.
  • Provide clinical leadership for the mental health team.
  • Act as a role model, ensuring professional appearance and maintaining professional standards at all times.
  • Support senior clinicians and be part of the daily leadership team, providing clinical input for all patients.
  • Work with the team to ensure patient safety, manage complex cases, and apply the most up‑to‑date treatment methodology to patient care.

Qualifications – Essential
  • Registered professional with current registration NMC Adult.
  • Master’s in Advanced Practice or equivalent.
  • Recognised prescribing qualification.
  • Understanding of the complexities of multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency working.
  • Understanding of clinical governance, health and safety, QOF, EBP and national standards.
Qualifications – Desirable
  • Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment is ideal.
Experience – Essential
  • Experience in primary care and long‑term condition management.
  • Experience working closely with MDT teams.
Experience – Desirable
  • Experience in a prison or secure environment.
