We have an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our Mental Health Team at HMP Garth.

HMP Garth has a capacity of around 800 males and is a Category B Prison located in Lancashire.

The Advanced Nurse Practitioner will have experience working within Mental Health and is a prescriber; you will be based within the healthcare department and will also be required to work on the prison wings.

Hours:

• Monday – Friday
• 37.5 hours per week
• 8 am – 4 pm

Salary

This position is permanent and you will receive an annual salary of £59,677 – £66,792 per annum depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

• Demonstrate judgment in assessing and managing wide‑ranging and complex patient problems
• Provide clinical leadership for the mental health team, which is a multi‑disciplinary team of registered and non‑registered professionals including mental health and substance misuse practitioners
• Act as a role model ensuring professional appearance and maintaining professional standards at all times
• Support senior clinicians on site as part of the daily leadership team, providing clinical input for all patients
• Work with the team to ensure patient safety, manage complex cases and apply the most up‑to‑date treatment methodology to patient care

Qualifications required

• Registered Nurse – Adult Mental Health with current NMC registration or Registered Paramedic with current HCPC registration
• Independent/supplementary prescriber qualification
• MSc in Advanced Practice
• Experience working autonomously as an advanced clinical practitioner following best practice guidance

Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
