Job description
Role Overview

This position provides specialist pharmacy services to the cardiology directorate for a 12‑month maternity leave cover. The post-holder will manage and support a small team of junior pharmacists and technicians, delivering high‑quality pharmacy services to the 14‑bed Acute Coronary Care Unit, 39‑bed cardiology ward and the Cardiac Cath lab. It is an exciting opportunity to join a mid‑way 12‑month project evaluating the impact of prescribing pharmacists across the cardiology wards and to work within the Liverpool Adult Acute and Specialist Providers (LAASP) programme.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist pharmacy services and advanced clinical support to the cardiology directorate.
  • Lead, manage and supervise a small team of junior pharmacists and technicians.
  • Assist the Lead Divisional Pharmacist in developing pharmacy services and medicines management within the Cardiology Directorate.
  • Provide highly specialist pharmaceutical information to medical and nursing staff, patients, general practitioners and other Trust staff.
  • Act as an independent prescriber in accordance with the Trust’s Non‑Medical Prescribers policies and guidelines once registered.
  • Participate in consultant ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings relevant to the designated wards and directorate.
Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Self‑motivating with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • Strong change management skills.
    • Vocational Masters degree in pharmacy (desirable).
  • Membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent documented clinical experience.
  • Full NMP qualification.
  • MRPharmS (desirable).
  • UKCPA membership (desirable).
  • Significant experience in a relevant specialist pharmacist role.
  • Antimicrobial stewardship experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development, education and training.
  • Experience as a NMP and excellent clinical knowledge and practical skills for the relevant specialist role.
  • Good all‑round clinical knowledge and practical skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Appropriate UK professional registration.
