Are you passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and helping them thrive in their apprenticeships? Chichester College is seeking a dedicated and empathetic individual to join our Apprenticeships and Work-Based Learning team on a part time basis. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on learners’ lives by guiding them through their training and development journey.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of SEND and ALS (West), you will provide tailored support to apprentices with additional needs, both in and out of the classroom. Your work will focus on helping learners develop independent study skills, employability strategies, and confidence in applying their learning in practical work environments. You’ll collaborate closely with employers and colleagues to ensure each learner receives the right support to achieve their full potential.

You will be responsible for assessing learners’ needs, developing individualised support plans, and delivering targeted interventions that promote independence. This includes interpreting and delivering training sessions, tracking progress, and maintaining accurate documentation in line with awarding body standards and college quality assurance processes. Regular reviews and close liaison with curriculum and pastoral teams will be essential to ensure learners remain on track.

Our ALS Apprenticeship Co-ordinator will have experience supporting young people with additional needs and neurodivergent conditions, as well as a strong understanding of techniques that promote independent learning. You should be confident in developing and delivering training, and in monitoring learner progress. Experience within post-16 education or training is desirable, though not essential.

Benefits

  • 25 days annual leave, increasing to 28 days in line with continuous service, plus bank holidays and college closure days over the Christmas period which are not deducted from annual leave entitlement and a wellbeing day. Plus, the opportunity to purchase up to 5 days additional leave.
  • Discount schemes - including discounts on shopping, restaurants, travel and onsite facilities such as our gym and First Steps Childcare nurseries (specific campuses only).
  • Family friendly policies - including enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption pay (dependant on continuous service).
  • Continuous professional development opportunities - including development days, funded apprenticeships and access to a range of other courses and activities.
