Acute Learning Disabilities and Neurodivergent Liaison Nurse

Band 6 £38,682 - £46,580 per annum. Hours: 37.5 per week, with flexible working options available. This role is based in the Department of Safeguarding at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

As a dynamic Acute Learning Disabilities and Neurodivergent Liaison Nurse, you will play a vital role in improving care and reducing inequalities for adults with learning disabilities in our acute healthcare setting. You will provide expert advice to acute staff, advocate for patients, and ensure reasonable adjustments are identified and implemented under the Equality Act 2010.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a specialist nursing assessment and treatment for people with a learning disability or who are neurodivergent, using a person-centred approach.
  • Offer nursing specialist support to a defined caseload of service users, including those with multiple health and social care needs.
  • Share knowledge with colleagues and participate in in‑service training programmes as required.
  • Ensure written and oral reports on the patient’s condition and treatment are provided within a given duty span.
  • Meet patients and their relatives’ needs in a courteous, helpful and compassionate way.

  • Participate in the sharing of knowledge with colleagues.
  • Participate in in‑service training programmes as required.
Professional Responsibilities
  • Receive written and oral reports on the patient’s condition and treatment within a given duty span.
  • Ensure that patients and their relatives’ needs are met in a courteous, helpful and compassionate way.
Core Duties
  • Support and improve the quality of care for people with learning disabilities and neurodivergence within a general acute hospital environment, for individuals aged 18 and over.
Main Outcomes
  • Reduced anxiety for people with learning disabilities and neurodivergence in the acute hospital setting.
  • Improved healthcare experience for people with learning disabilities and neurodivergence.
