Job description

The purpose of this role is to develop, maintain and enhance Actuarial Systems and processes used across the actuarial teams, using SQL, RAFM, Unify and other programs.

Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Develop and maintain SQL code used for reporting to their external partners
  • Develop and maintain actuarial systems used for external reporting, pricing, reserving and capital calculations across Solvency II, US GAAP and UK GAAP.
  • Ensure model accuracy through rigorous testing and validation
  • Support internal and external audit processes
  • Keep up to date on system and AI developments and share this knowledge with the actuarial teams
  • Embed and contribute to the requirements of Conduct Risk, Solvency II Systems of Governance, Treating Customers Fairly, Consumer Duty and the Risk Management Framework as it applies to the role and divisional activities and drive improvements as required
  • Degree or other qualification in a numerical or analytical subject and/or a past or present student member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (who has stopped studying) with proven experience
  • Proficient in SQL and Excel, with proven experience. RAFM, Unify, Emblem, R, Python and PowerQuery knowledge or the ability to learn these systems
  • Strong analytical and logical skills that can be applied in a systems-based environment
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with other teams, always ensuring excellent levels of verbal and written communication
