Job description

We are looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant to join a busy finance team on a temporary basis for a 6-month period. This role is ideal for a part-qualified accountant or someone early in their studies/newly graduated, looking to gain hands‑on experience in a dynamic finance environment.

The successful candidate will primarily support Accounts Payable processes, with additional responsibilities in balance sheet reconciliations and journal postings.

Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
  • Process supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare and process payment runs.
  • Maintain supplier records and respond to queries.
General Ledger & Month-End Support
  • Assist with posting journals (accruals, prepayments, corrections).
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations (e.g., bank, control accounts).
  • Support month‑end close activities as required.
Other Duties
  • Assist with ad‑hoc finance tasks and projects.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls.
Skills & Qualifications
Education

Part-qualified accountant (AAT Level 3/4 or early CIMA/ACCA) OR recent finance/accounting graduate.

Experience

Some exposure to finance processes (internship or placement experience desirable).

Skills

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Good Excel skills (basic formulas, pivot tables desirable).

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Hours

Full‑time (40 hours per week: 9 hours Mon‑Thu, 4 hours Fri with flexi)
