Job summary

A leading consultancy in financial management is seeking an experienced Accounting and Technical Finance Manager in Bristol. You will oversee the Council’s annual Statement of Accounts and lead the audit process while ensuring compliance with local government accounting standards. Ideal candidates will possess a CCAB qualification and demonstrable experience managing financial audits. This role offers mostly remote working arrangements with possible extensions beyond 3 months.

Job Title: Accounting and Technical Finance Manager

Ref: Bristol 5275220

Pay rate: £426.75 per day PAYE

Role length: Anticipated 3 months

Working arrangements: Mostly remote, may need to visit the office once a month

Additional information: It is possible this role will be extended beyond the initial 3 months

The role

We\'re seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accounting and Technical Finance Manager to manage the Statement of Accounts Audit and statutory Collection Funds. This is a key role within the finance team, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and delivering high-quality financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the production of the Council’s annual Statement of Accounts, ensuring compliance with code of practice and all relevant legislation
  • Lead on the audit process, liaising effectively with external auditors to ensure timely and accurate completion
  • Oversee the statutory accounting for Collection Fund including forecasting and reconciliation
  • Provide technical financial advice to senior stakeholders across the organisation
  • Monitor changes in accounting standards and ensure their effective implementation
  • Support continuous improvement in financial systems, processes, and reporting
