Job description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in North Yorkshireto assist with the appointment of anAccountant, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £47.00 - £59.68 per hour

Responsibilities:

  • Support budget holders with in-year budget monitoring, variance analysis, and corrective action planning.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, business plans, and year-end financial accounts.
  • Contribute to financial modelling, forecasting, and scenario analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Analyse financial performance to support medium and long-term financial planning.
  • Provide financial input into transformation projects and service reviews.

Requirements:

  • A qualified accountant (e.g. CCAB, CIMA, CIPFA) or finalist close to completion.
  • Experience of financial management in a local government or similar public sector setting.
  • Strong understanding of budget setting, monitoring, and year-end closure processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide financial support for strategic projects and transformation.
