LOCATION: Cardiff with some hybrid working -2 days in the office

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £50,000 - £53,500 per annum depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Join BBC Finance in Cardiff as an Accountant in our Group Finance team. You\'ll support month-end, year-end and budget reporting, helping to deliver clear, accurate financial insight across the organisation. This role contributes to key reporting processes, both internal and external, and offers the opportunity to work with a broad range of stakeholders in a collaborative, hybrid-working environment.

The BBC Group Finance team delivers an integrated, sustainable and high quality accounting and reporting service to our business and Finance customers across the whole of the BBC.

As an Accountant, you will contribute towards a wide variety of internal and external reporting including month-end reports for senior management, the BBC\'s Annual Report and Accounts, reporting on our savings programmes and the allocation of funds across the organisation.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

As an Accountant in the Financial Reporting team you will:

  • Undertake monthly reporting of financial performance with a divisional and pan-BBC perspective, in addition to other reporting to stakeholders.
  • Devise and manage appropriate month end and budget models and templates that provide insightful and relevant analysis, suitable for decision making.
  • Take responsibility for month end, budget and annual accounting processes, managing this from start to end and working with a range of stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation of the BBC Annual Report and Accounts and other external reporting requirements.
  • Provide professional financial support to a range of stakeholders, effective control of financial processes and delivering operational excellence.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Qualified professional accounting e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, or equivalent and Financial Reporting and/or management accounting knowledge.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence.
  • Advanced excel and modelling skills, in relation to key finance information including budgets and forecasts.
  • Ability to manage senior stakeholders including explaining complex data / principles to non-finance professionals.
  • Strong planning and organisation skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of the theory and practical application of accounting principles and controls.
