A leading healthcare communications agency in Leeds is seeking an experienced Account Director for maternity cover. In this role, you will manage a healthcare account in the oncology space, overseeing the execution of medical communication programmes and developing strong client relationships. The ideal candidate will have significant project management experience, a 2:1 degree, and the ability to lead and mentor a team. This is a fixed-term 13-month contract with flexible working options and other benefits available.

Mednet is looking for a top talent as an Account Director – Maternity Cover.
The role involves strategically managing and leading a healthcare account in the oncology space, including overseeing the strategic planning, execution, and evaluation of a broad range of medical communication programmes. This may include shaping and guiding high-impact projects and campaigns such as scientific events and the development of complex print / digital materials.
You will work closely with senior stakeholders—both internal and client-side—to set the strategic vision, define programme objectives, and ensure excellence in delivery. You will be responsible for high-level resource planning, budget oversight, and forecasting across accounts, ensuring that the team are supported, efficient, and aligned with client and business priorities.
As the senior point of contact, you will nurture and grow client relationships, identifying opportunities for account development and providing trusted strategic counsel. You will mentor and lead an account team, ensuring high-quality work, consistent performance, and the ongoing professional development of team members. In this role, you will drive the long‑term direction and growth of your accounts, maintaining a focus on scientific integrity, innovation, and commercial success.
The position is a fixed 13‑month contract for maternity cover, with a preferred start date at the beginning of February 2026. There may be the opportunity to discuss converting to a full‑time role based on business need following the fixed‑term contract.
The position will be based at Mednet’s head office in Leeds.
