A leading UK law firm is seeking a 3rd line Application & Infrastructure Support Engineer to provide technical support for critical business applications. This position reports directly to the Technical Lead and will work within our Core Infrastructure and Apps (CIA) team. This role is office based 2 days per week with some travel to other office locations anticipated.
Our team provides third line technical support and servicing across the traditional Microsoft Windows Server and Microsoft 365 ecosystems and primary Legal Applications that reside upon them.
It’s an exciting time to be joining as the roadmap over the next 2 years involves significant investment and transformation of our service to be cloud first and Azure native where possible. Some of our key projects include iManage cloud adoption, upgrades of our major legal application portfolio, integration works with firm acquisitions within the Microsoft 365 platform, replacement of ITSM tooling with ServiceNow, and migration of key workloads into Azure.
Provide third-line support and resolution for business‑critical applications and productivity tools, following ITIL practices.
Act as the main liaison with application vendors and internal/external teams to ensure stable, secure, and supportable solutions.
Plan, coordinate, and execute application upgrades and cloud migrations, managing risks, testing, and communications.
Contribute technical expertise to projects, including server builds, application rollouts, configurations, and cross‑team collaborations.
Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, evaluate third‑party proposals, and recommend improvements for processes and platforms.
Collaborate with Cyber Security, Managed Services, and Software & Data Engineering teams, driving efficiency, automation, and team upskilling.
We are looking for a 3rd line Application & Infrastructure Support engineer who has proven experience in enterprise application support or infrastructure engineering. Due to the applications we work with, ideally you will come from a legal or professional services background.
Ideally, you will have exposure to the following tech stack:
Windows Server Hybrid (AD, Group Policy, IIS, PKI, NPS)
Microsoft Azure (VMs, App Services, Networking, Storage, Monitor, Security & Identity Management)
Automation & Scripting: PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, ARM templates, Logic Apps, Event Grid/Service Bus (desired)
iManage, Elite 3E, InTapp Time, Elite MatterSphere, Chrome River/Emburse, HighQ, Litera suite
Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Dynamics 365)
ServiceNow, domain/certificate management, print/scan tools (Equitrac, ShareScan, Kappris)
Networking & Cisco (switching, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, Meraki)
