Overview

We are recruiting self-motivated and enthusiastic support workers, providing care and support to adults with learning disabilities within their own homes. You will make a difference to the quality of a person's life by supporting them with their daily living activities. This can include intimate personal care including showering/bathing, dressing or undressing, assisting with toileting etc. It will also include administering medication, supporting with meal preparation, and participating in leisure activities to enable individuals to get the most from their daily life. You will have an understanding of the importance of social inclusion, promoting independence and enabling positive life choices.

If you have experience of working in a care setting or provided informal care and support to family or friends then we would love to hear from you. You must understand that a person is at the centre of the care and have a willingness to learn and develop your skills.

  • DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service): The successful applicant will be required to complete a Disclosure Application Form and to provide criminal conviction information.
  • Fluency Duty: This post is subject to the Fluency Duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016. The post-holder is required to demonstrate an appropriate level of fluency under the duty as detailed within the job specification for the post.
  • Probation: In line with the Council's Probation Procedure, certain positions may be subject to a six-month probationary period. This requirement does not apply to internal vacancies.

Working Pattern and Benefits

The work includes weekends, sleep-ins and bank holidays. Additional enhancements are paid on top of the basic salary. Additional hours may also be available on top of the contracted hours.
