Part Time: 28 hours per week

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Disability Advisor to join our Team. You will be an enthusiastic, motivated and empathetic individual with relevant experience to be able to advise, assess and support disabled students at the University of Edinburgh.

A fantastic opportunity to support disabled students to participate fully and succeed in their chosen courses of study. You will independently assess students’ support requirements to authorise reasonable adjustments to learning & teaching environments and examinations for individual students, working closely with University academic and support staff and external agencies as required.

The position is open to candidates who are looking for part-time employment, 0.8 FTE (Full Time Equivalent) which is the equivalent to 4 days or 28 hours per week.

Your skills and attributes for success
  • A degree, plus recent relevant professional training
  • Extensive experience supporting disabled students in Higher Education or another relevant professional context
  • A demonstrable understanding of the principles of inclusive learning and teaching practices and assistive technology in enhancing the student experience for disabled students.
  • An understanding of the pressures of the academic environment for students with disabilities and/or additional support needs
  • Working knowledge of the current relevant legislation regarding students with disabilities.
