Job summary

An education recruitment agency is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant in Burnley to support a pupil with additional behavioural needs. Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant (Challenging Behaviour Support)

Location: Burnley

Contract Type: Full-Time, Term Time Only

Salary: 85 - 90 per day

Start Date: Monday 1st September

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Do you have experience supporting children or young adults with challenging behaviour, particularly in residential childcare or similar settings?

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with additional behavioural needs in an inclusive and nurturing school environment. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is calm under pressure, patient, and able to build trusting relationships with children who may find the school environment challenging.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 support for a specific pupil throughout the school day, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and external professionals to implement behaviour support strategies.
  • Encourage positive choices and emotional regulation through a trauma-informed approach.
  • Assist with learning activities, emotional support, and the development of social skills.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the child at all times.
About You
  • Experience in residential childcare, youth work, or supporting individuals with challenging behaviour is highly desirable.
  • You do not need formal Teaching Assistant qualifications – training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • A calm, consistent, and empathetic approach to behaviour management.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine desire to support children to thrive both academically and emotionally.
  • All applications are subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, professional reference checks and overseas police clearances (if applicable) in line with our stringent safeguarding policy.
  • Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and all employment breaks must be explained.
  • You must have legal right to work in the UK.
  • You must be willing to attend a registration interview.
