Job description

We have partnered with a reputable junior school near Basingstoke who are now looking for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their team within a year 3 class. This school is very supportive and has a wonderful ethos where children feel heard so they can reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities for the Teaching Assistant:

• Provide dedicated, one-on-one support to a year 3 student, assisting with their academic, social, and emotional needs.
• Support the student in accessing the curriculum by offering tailored help in specific subjects or tasks, ensuring their full participation in lessons.
• Monitor and record the student s progress, providing feedback to the class teacher.
• Assist in the development and implementation of personalized learning plans (IEPs or support plans) in collaboration with the teacher and SENCO.
• Support the student with any behavioral or emotional challenges they may face during lessons and throughout the school day.
• Assist with the student s general well-being and help foster their confidence and independence.
• Attend team meetings and training sessions to continuously develop your skills and knowledge.

Key Skills and Attributes:

• Previous experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs, is highly desirable.
• A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to working with children.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with both students and staff.
• Ability to use initiative and work independently, while being part of a team.
• Good organizational skills and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
• A passion for supporting young learners and helping them succeed.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
