Overview

Education Personnel are recruiting a part‑time 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant for a primary school in Belper. The school is set on a spacious site with extensive outdoor grounds, including a dedicated sensory garden and covered outdoor areas used year‑round for regulation and movement breaks. Inside, the building includes a purpose‑built intervention room away from the main classrooms, allowing pupils to work in a quieter space when needed without leaving the school environment.

This SEN TA role is focused on providing consistent 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs, working closely with the class teacher and SENCo. SEN Support is delivered mainly in class, with planned use of quieter spaces during parts of the day to support focus, transitions, and emotional regulation. This SEN TA role suits someone comfortable adapting support moment by moment, helping a pupil manage the demands of a busy primary setting while staying engaged with learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consistent 1:1 SEN support tailored to the pupil's individual needs
  • Support access to the curriculum across Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2
  • Adapt tasks and resources in real time to maintain engagement and understanding
  • Support emotional regulation, attention, and transitions using agreed strategies
  • Monitor progress and feedback to the class teacher and SENCo
  • Assist with intervention activities and structured break or movement times
The Ideal Candidate
  • Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Has experience supporting pupils with SEN on a 1:1 basis in a UK primary school
  • Confident working independently while following guidance from teaching staff
  • Calm, consistent, and clear with expectations and boundaries
