Start Date: March 2026

Contract: Full-time, Term-time

Rate of pay: £13.75 to £15 per hour

About the role

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking an understanding and driven teaching assistant to provide 1:1 support to a pupil with Autism in Year 6 who is part of friendly and inclusive primary school based in Birkenhead. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with the motivation to make a real difference in a child’s educational and emotional journey, while also developing key skills to strengthen their own career prospects.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Provide daily support to a year group people who has Autism.
  • Be able to implement tailored strategies to aid engagement of focus of the pupil.
  • Assist the classroom teacher with delivery of their lessons and behaviour management within the classroom.
  • Be able to liaise with the SENCO and all other staff with the school.
  • Provide appropriate feedback to child’s parents to ensure all relevant information is passed on.
  • Encourage positive and meaningful social interactions that nurture confidence and emotional growth.

What we are looking for
  • Previous experience supporting children with Autism or children with additional needs.
  • Committed to inclusivity and prioritising each pupil’s wellbeing.
  • Have patience, empathy and strong behaviour management skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to get one)
  • Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent (Desirable)
