WMS Functional Consultant
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced WMS Functional Consultant to support the design, implementation, and optimization of Warehouse Management System (WMS) solutions for complex warehouse and distribution operations. This role focuses on translating business and operational requirements into robust, scalable WMS configurations while promoting standardization, reusability, and long-term system maintainability.
The WMS Functional Consultant will work closely with cross‑functional stakeholders—including Business Development, Solution Design, Operations, Customers, and IT—to ensure that WMS solutions align with operational best practices, customer requirements, and broader IT architectures. The role combines functional leadership with hands‑on system configuration, testing, and user enablement across mid‑to large‑scale logistics environments.
This role requires regular travel to customer sites across France to support workshops, solution design activities, implementations, and go‑live phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Business Development and Solution Design teams during customer bids and solution phases to propose cost‑effective, implementable WMS architectures that balance standard functionality with necessary customization.
- Collaborate with business, customer, and IT stakeholders to translate warehouse workflows and operational requirements into clear functional specifications, minimizing non‑standard configurations and promoting reusable solution components.
- Design WMS solutions—using a WMS or Tier‑1 WMS solution—that integrate seamlessly with surrounding IT landscapes such as ERP, TMS, WCS, and automation systems.
- Lead the functional implementation of WMS solutions in collaboration with application consultants and developers, including hands‑on system configuration, functional testing, and support of User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Provide transparent status reporting on configuration, development, and testing activities; proactively communicate risks, issues, and scope changes, and propose appropriate mitigation actions.
- Develop and deliver training materials, workshops, and knowledge‑transfer sessions to ensure effective adoption of WMS solutions and adherence to standardization principles.
- Support and mentor junior consultants and application team members, fostering best practices in WMS configuration, requirements gathering, and stakeholder engagement.
- Conduct post‑implementation reviews to evaluate solution performance, user adoption, and operational efficiency, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
- Strong expertise in logistics and warehouse process design and optimization.
- Proven experience designing and implementing WMS or Tier‑1 WMS solutions for mid‑to large‑scale, multi‑site warehouse operations.
- Hands‑on experience with WMS functional configuration, testing, and solution delivery.
- Experience working with integrations across ERP, TMS, automation, and warehouse control systems.
- Pragmatic, solution‑oriented mindset with a focus on operationally viable outcomes.
- Proficiency in business process modeling, requirements management, and Agile and/or Waterfall delivery frameworks.
- Strong understanding of warehouse and logistics KPIs (e.g., order accuracy, inventory turnover, productivity) and how they translate into system configuration and reporting.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence business and IT teams toward standardized, scalable solutions while addressing customer‑specific needs.
- Strong analytical skills, including gap analysis, root‑cause investigation, and cost‑benefit evaluation.
- Business‑level fluency in English and French.
