Job Description

Purpose of the Role

Senior Account Managers work closely to support Account Directors or equivalent account lead in ensuring that the strategy and campaigns agreed with their Directors are developed and followed through. Senior Account Managers are required to have significant experience as Account Managers who manage the day-to-day relationship with clients, drafting releases and other key documents, managing approval processes, pitching to journalists, managing logistics, securing press coverage and managing Executives with minimal support from the account lead if required.

Responsibilities

Media Campaigns

  • Develops and implements press and PR plans, within budget and within agreed media targets to deliver maximum impact and positive messaging
  • Has an excellent understanding of strategic communications to deliver strong campaigns
  • Provides a fast, helpful and efficient response to all media enquiries and takes advice from Account Director or Director as appropriate
  • Leads on campaign work including drafting and overseeing issue of media materials, Q&As and key documents to an excellent standard, effective list-building, liaising with clients on signing off materials and images, and develops and actions social media plans
  • Regularly meets and pitches on the phone and via email to journalists and places coverage
  • Sets up and attends journalist meetings with colleagues as appropriate, building their own existing network of well-placed contacts
  • Ensures successful cross-company pitches to key target journalists through proper and timely coordination of information across the teams and offices
  • Manages account administration with support from the account lead only if required
  • Coordinates and supervises interviews / photo-calls / media events and drafts guest-lists for events
  • Oversees updating of press campaigns, monitoring and chasing up coverage
  • Ensures feedback to Account Director and inter-team communication at all times
  • Approves listings text
  • Keeps up to date with media outlets, who is writing what so that the campaigns are as effective as possible
  • Shares knowledge and updates teams on any intel they come across when reading eg. articles of interest, new writers or redesigns of publications

Client Management and Reporting

  • Is the main point of contact for clients and manages the day-to-day relationships with clients, with some support from the account lead as required
  • Provides fast, helpful and efficient responses for clients, takes advice from Account Director or Direct as appropriate and is proactive in setting up calls, setting agendas and ensuring actions are being delivered promptly
  • Proactively informs client of campaign developments; identifying which priority areas each client will want to be updated on, working in a tailored way to build trust with each client
  • Ensures press cuttings are issued to clients promptly
  • Coordinates media campaigns to keep stakeholders / other PRs informed and ensures messaging is consistent
  • Writes project debrief reports
  • Writes AVE reports as required

Team Management

  • Manages any team members efficiently and confidently, ensuring they are trained and developed in all relevant areas of their work
  • Manages (if relevant) the workflow of one to two members of staff ensuring they are providing a seamless services to their clients and wider team
  • Manages upwards to line manager and / or Director regularly on progress, including planning for internal meetings, and flags any issues or concerns promptly

Additional Responsibilities

  • Acts as an ambassador for the Company and a role model for all staff
  • Attends Managers meetings
  • Manages intern as required
  • Deputises for Account Directors or covers for Account Manager and Executive colleagues as required
  • Emergency contact on rotation
  • Ensures Sutton website is updated with new team and client details
  • Attends client and non-client events regularly
  • Communicates with other teams to ensure collaborative and joined-up Company communication
  • Assists with pitches to potential clients
  • Performs any other task as required by Chief Executive, Managing Director or Account Director or Director
  • Sends media and VIP database contacts to nominated person
