Laboratory
The ATOMIC team «Advanced Therapy in radiation Oncology and Molecular Imaging Characterization» (UMR9029/U1353/Université Paris Saclay) specializes in developing new therapeutic strategies aimed at increasing the therapeutic index of radiotherapy. In line with the institutional FRATHEA project, the team has been actively involved in the development of FLASH radiotherapy (Favaudon, Science Translational Medicine, 2014), which reduces radiation-induced toxicities while maintaining anti-tumor efficacy comparable to that of conventional radiotherapy (known as the FLASH effect). In close collaboration with radiation oncologists and medical physicists of the team, the project aims to conduct preclinical studies to validate the new FLASH-VHEE irradiator developed at Institut Curie, specially in the frame of the FRATHEA project [1].
