About the Team
At Wakam, reinsurance is at the heart of our business model. The Reinsurance team protects our balance sheet, secures strategic partnerships, and enables sustainable growth by managing and optimizing reinsurance strategies that foster resilience against large-scale risks and long-term financial stability.
Your Mission
As Reinsurance Manager, you’ll join a dynamic team at the center of Wakam’s growth strategy. Reporting to the Head of Reinsurance, you will manage key reinsurance relationships, lead treaty negotiations, and develop efficient, forward-looking risk transfer structures. You’ll act as a strategic partner to internal stakeholders and external reinsurers, helping to enhance our protection framework and align reinsurance solutions with Wakam’s evolving product portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with reinsurance partners and identify new partnership opportunities
- Lead the renewal process: prepare files, run actuarial analysis, and participate in negotiations
- Design and optimise reinsurance program structures in line with Wakam’s business needs
- Draft and revise treaty clauses, participate in treaty writing, and ensure adequate protection with no gaps
- Ensure proper back-office management of treaties in close coordination with the Accounting team
- Monitor treaty performance and provide regular reporting to reinsurers
- Maintain the reinsurance policy and ensure alignment with the company’s risk appetite and compliance requirements
- Identify areas for process improvement and support the digital transformation of reinsurance workflows
- Promote internal understanding of reinsurance mechanisms through communication and awareness initiatives
Your Profile
- Degree in Actuarial Science, Insurance, Risk, or Management
- 7–12 years’ experience in a similar reinsurance or insurance leadership role
- Strong knowledge of P&C insurance economics, pricing, and Solvency II
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
- Proven ability to navigate complex negotiations and influence internal and external stakeholders
- Working Mindset: Proactive and autonomous, with a strong sense of ownership
- Structured and detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple priorities
- Open-minded, collaborative, and adaptable to change
- Comfortable working across teams and geographies
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English; French is a plus
