Description du poste
Offer Description

The project aims at preparing novel main‑group element‑based diazenes and exploring their applications in organic synthesis through the controlled generation of free radicals. The central goal is to leverage the unique and tunable properties of p‑block main‑group elements to unlock unconventional and barely explored open‑shell reactivity patterns that complement classical radical methodologies.

The recruited postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for:

  • Synthesis and characterization of novel main‑group diazene precursors (involving air‑sensitive techniques).
  • Methodology development: optimization of reaction conditions to exploit these diazene derivatives as radical precursors in tailored organic transformations.
  • Mechanistic studies: elucidating radical pathways using physical‑organic tools such as EPR spectroscopy, trapping experiments and kinetics.

The recruited candidate will join the MACO team (Methods and Applications in Organic Chemistry) at the Institut Parisien de Chimie Moléculaire (IPCM), Sorbonne University.

  • PhD in organic or organometallic chemistry, possibly followed by an initial postdoctoral experience.
  • Experience in handling air‑ and moisture‑sensitive compounds (Schlenk techniques and/or glovebox).
  • Prior experience in p‑block element chemistry, photochemistry, and/or the characterization of free radicals (notably by EPR) would be an asset, but is not mandatory.
  • Full proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
