The IPBS (Institute of Pharmacology and Structural Biology) is seeking motivated postdoctoral researchers to apply for Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowship and join our laboratory to carry out their research project.
Interdisciplinary approaches for understanding and targeting mycobacteria
The team interest is mainly in the physiology of mycobacteria, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis and non-tuberculous mycobacteria, with a focus on understanding and targeting key players involved in the biosynthesis of lipidic components of mycobacterial cell envelopes. The group has expertise in analytical and structural biochemistry of lipids and polysaccharides, molecular microbiology and protein biotechnology. We are developing screening approaches to discover new therapeutic agents. Using interdisciplinary approaches, we are interested in various aspects of early-stage drug discovery, ranging from identification to validation of targets with therapeutic interest. Notably, we collaborate with chemistry groups to develop novel molecules with unexplored modes of action. The ultimate goal is improving our knowledge of the physiology of pathogenic bacteria and their adaptation to the host to develop new strategies in the fight against antibiotic resistance.
