A leading alternative investment manager is seeking an Investment Analyst for their Fund of Hedge Funds team in Paris. The successful candidate will conduct comprehensive due diligence on hedge fund managers, perform quantitative analysis, and contribute to monthly reports and newsletters. Candidates should possess a Master's degree in Finance or a related field, have 1-3 years of experience, and be fluent in English, with strong Excel skills. This role offers the opportunity to work in a detail-oriented, results-driven team environment.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience or exposure to hedge funds and/or fund of hedge funds.
  • German language skills are advantageous but not essential.

Investment Analyst – Fund of Hedge Funds
Location: Frankfurt am Main
About the Role

Our client is a leading alternative investment manager based in Frankfurt, managing diversified absolute return and hedge fund portfolios on behalf of institutional and professional investors. The firm focuses on identifying best-in-class hedge fund managers with robust, repeatable investment processes and a proven ability to generate consistent alpha across market cycles.

The investment philosophy is process-driven, combining rigorous qualitative and quantitative due diligence with thoughtful portfolio construction. Complementary strategies are combined into resilient, all-weather portfolios designed to deliver attractive risk-adjusted returns, including during periods of market stress.

As part of the Absolute Return team, the Investment Analyst will support the analysis, selection, and monitoring of hedge fund investments and contribute to ongoing research and portfolio oversight.

Key Responsibilities
Fund Analysis and Monitoring
  • Conduct comprehensive due diligence on hedge fund managers under the supervision of an Investment Manager and in line with established investment procedures
  • Perform quantitative analysis, gather and interpret qualitative information, verify data, and participate in on-site visits where appropriate
  • Document analysis processes and outcomes within internal systems, including ratings, fund reports, and quantified risk parameters
  • Monitor approved and invested funds and portfolios, assessing relative performance, risk exposures, and organisational developments
  • Proactively update documentation and provide investment recommendations based on ongoing analysis
  • Maintain and further develop the hedge fund database, ensuring the covered universe remains current and appropriately categorised
Strategy Research
  • Conduct regular hedge fund strategy research in collaboration with Investment Managers
  • Analyse macroeconomic and market research to develop clearly articulated and quantified strategy views and investment expectations
  • Source new investment ideas through database screening, industry networking, review of relevant publications, and attendance at industry events
General Responsibilities
  • Contribute to monthly investment reports and client newsletters
  • Support the enhancement of existing analytical tools, with a particular focus on quantitative fund analysis and reporting
  • Work closely with Investment Managers and Portfolio Managers on a day-to-day basis within a collaborative team environment
Candidate Profile
  • Master’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, a quantitative discipline, or a related field
  • 1–3 years of relevant professional experience
  • Prior experience or exposure to hedge funds and/or fund of hedge funds
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; German is advantageous but not essential
  • Strong team player with a reliable, proactive, and detail-oriented mindset
  • Excellent MS Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Results-driven with the ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks
